  • What happens in a free consultation?
    A consultation is an opportunity for you to share a bit of information about what you are struggling with or hoping to work on in therapy, to ask any questions that you might have about therapy, the process, and about a psychologist. It can be a great initial step to determine if it is a good fit.

  • What can I expect in the first appointment?
    Though this can vary from person to person, the first intake appointment is an opportunity to learn more about you, your concerns/symptoms, any relevant history, possible root causes of the problem(s), and to identify your treatment goals for therapy moving forward.
  • Is my information confidential?
    The information you share in your therapy sessions is private and confidential and your psychologist will ensure that they take all the necessary steps to protect your information. There are some circumstances in which information may need to be shared without your informed consent including if: There is any reason to believe that a child or vulnerable adult is experiencing abuse or neglect If you are deemed to be at imminent risk for harming yourself or someone else If a psychologist's records have been subpoenaed by a Court of Law
  • Where are sessions conducted?
    All sessions are conducted via a secure video and audio platform, all within the comfort and safety of your own home.
  • How long are sessions?
    Most sessions last 50 minutes long. You also have the option to book extended sessions (80 minutes) if this is preferred.
  • How many sessions of therapy will I need?
    This answer depends on the specific needs of each client. However, your psychologist will ensure that the frequency and number of sessions is discussed once they have a better understanding of your unique situation and needs.
  • How much does therapy cost?
    A session costs $220 per clinical hour for individual therapy and couples or marital therapy. *A clinical hour consists of 50 minute session time and 10 minutes administrative time.
  • How much does an assessment cost?
    The cost of an assessment (including psychological and adoption assessments) vary based on the unique needs of the client. Please consider completing a complimentary consultation to learn more about the process, cost and time commitment required to complete your tailored assessment.
  • Are your services covered by insurance?
    Many extended health benefit plans have coverage for services with a registered psychologist. Although we do not direct bill for services, a detailed receipt will be provided at the end of your session that can be submitted to your insurance plan for reimbursement. Any fees not covered by insurance may qualify as a medical expense and may be eligible for tax claims, health spending, etc.
  • How can I pay for sessions?
    Restore psychology accepts payment for sessions by credit card (Mastercard, Visa, or American Express) or Interac E-transfer.
  • What counties have you completed adoption assessments for?
    Our psychologist has completed international adoption assessments for various countries including India, Columbia, and the Philippines.
  • Do you offer sliding scales services?
    We understand that cost for therapy can be a barrier to access mental health support. As such, we do offer sliding scale options on a case-by-case basis. Feel free to book a consultation to see what options might be available to you.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    Restore psychology has a 24-hour cancellation policy. Any session missed or cancelled without 24 hours of notice will be charged the full session fee.
  • What if I am currently in crisis and need help immediately?
    If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you are in distress but do not require immediate medical attention, contact Crisis Services Canada at 833-456-4566 (available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day).
